Admission

Requirements

The CLI program only accepts 14 students per class.

The courses are very competitive, but the spaces are reserved for Los Angeles County writers who are serious about creating valuable work to be published.

The total cost of tuition for the class is $190 a month, which includes a monthly contribution to The Living Writers Series High School Book Donation Program.  In addition to the class sessions, this fee also helps subsidize the cover design, layout, copy editing, and final digital cataloging of your entire manuscript.

3 Easy Steps
To become a CLI Scholar!

1.

Apply + Writing Sample

Our application will request a writing sample. Writing samples are to be reviewed by the Application Committee. All submissions should include a cover letter detailing your interests as a writer and the type of manuscript you intend to create.  For poetry, please send five of your best poems.

2.

Attend the Interview

After review of your application, the Application Committee will schedule an interview with you. When you attend, you will be expected to describe your plan to create, edit, and market your book.

3.

Wait for Program Acceptance

The committee will respond to your application within 48 hours of the interview. If you have been accepted as a student, you will be informed by email.
