The Wifandel Life Skills Day Camp is meticulously crafted to nurture and empower adolescents aged 14-19 residing in Los Angeles who harbor a passion for personal growth and development. This comprehensive five-day program is designed to equip participants with essential life skills crucial for navigating various aspects of life with confidence and resilience.

The day camp begins on June 24th, 2024 - June 28th, 2024, and runs for five consecutive days, from 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM each day. Sessions are conducted in person at the Wifandel House. The Wifandel Life Skill Day Camp is free.

This day camp is tailored for adolescents aged 14-19 who are eager to explore and enhance their life skills in a supportive and enriching environment. It welcomes individuals who are dedicated to personal growth and eager to acquire valuable competencies for future success.

About The Instructors

Hiram & Charisse Sims

Hiram Sims, a poet, essayist, and Creative Writing Professor, is deeply rooted in Los Angeles's literary scene. With a background in English and a Master's in Professional Writing, he teaches and inspires through The Community Literature Initiative. He's authored three poetry collections and a creative writing textbook, while co-founding World Stage Press and founding the Sims Library of Poetry. As a commissioner of The Los Angeles Public Library, he continues to shape the city's literary landscape.

Charisse Sims, a dedicated advocate for youth literacy, co-founded the Sims Library of Poetry in 2020. Serving as Director of Youth Literacy Programs, she bridges educators and students, promoting culturally relevant children's books through publishing classes. Recognized as a PBS Early Learning Champion, she expands educational access nationwide. Through her award-winning podcast, she educates and advocates for youth. Charisse's unwavering commitment ensures every child has equal learning opportunities, making her an inspirational leader in education.
